Marie Tallman is the mother of three and grandmother of six. Her studio is located a short drive from the beach in Delaware. She has been making quilts for 35 years and teaching basic quilt making and hand quilting locally for many years. About a decade ago, Marie realized as she was “not going to live long enough” to hand quilt her accumulation of quilt tops. She attempted several less than successful experiments with machine quilting using a domestic sewing machine and decided “there must be a better way.” Her next step was to begin the process of finding the right longarm quilting machine.

A little over a year later she became the proud owner of a Gammill Optimum with a Statler Stitcher. At about the same time she left her day job to begin machine quilting professionally. It has been five years since the Pinewater Quilting Company, began quilting for others. In that time she has quilted over a thousand quilts. Many of the quilts she has quilted have won ribbons for their owners. Marie is a Creative Studio™ Beta Tester, Certified Trainer for Creative Studio™ software for the Statler Stitcher™ and SUGAR instructor. Marie is also an Authorized Representative for Gammill Quilting Systems™. “I have learned many quilting lessons over the years both by trial and error and by listening to other quilters who generously shared their expertise with me. I hope I can inspire others by sharing this knowledge.” Marie shares her “good, bad, and ugly” experiences and quilting know-how through lectures and classes.
